چکیده

In this numerical study particle behavior inside a sinusoidal pipe geometry is analyzed. The 3D consists of three identical modules, with periodic boundary condition applied to the flow in stream wise direction. incompressible, turbulent gas modeled using Large Eddy Simulation (LES) approach. Furthermore, dynamics are simulated Lagrangian point force approach incorporating Stokes drag and slip correction factor. Four different sizes particles, corresponding number less than unity, considered along two inflow conditions: continuous pulsatile. pulsatile has an associated frequency 80 Hz. fluid through characterized by weak separation expansion zones geometry, where induced shear layers recirculation identified. Particle under conditions quantified dispersion, residence time, average radial position particle. No discernible difference observed between conditions. As weak, particles not retained within cavities for long duration thereby reducing their likelihood agglomerating.

Stability of steady flow through an axially corrugated pipe

The linear stability of steady flow in pipes with circular cross-section and sinusoidal axial variation in diameter is studied by finding global eigenmodes with axial wavelength commensurate with that of the wall corrugation, chosen to be equal to one pipe mean radius. The maximum peak-to-peak height of corrugation considered is approximately 8% of the mean diameter. At low corrugation amplitud...

Numerical Comparison of Turbulent Heat Transfer and Flow Characteristics of SiO2/Water Nanofluid within Helically Corrugated Tubes and Plain Tube

Turbulent heat transfer in Helically Corrugated Tubes (HCT) was numerically investigated for pure water and SiO2 nanofluid using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). This study was carried out for different corrugating pitches (5, 7, 8 mm) and heights (0.5, 0.75, 1.25 mm) at various Reynolds numbers ranging from 5000 to 13300. The effect of nanoparticles on heat transfer augmentation for plain t...

On the Universality of the Velocity Profiles of a Turbulent Flow in an Axially Rotating Pipe

Abstract. If a fluid enters an axially rotating pipe, it receives a tangential component of velocity from the moving wall, and the flow pattern change according to the rotational speed. A flow relaminarization is set up by an increase in the rotational speed of the pipe. It will be shown that the tangentialand the axial velocity distribution adopt a quite universal shape in the case of fully de...
